Pelin Esmer receives “Bilge Olgaç Achievement Award”

Organized by the Flying Broom Foundation, the 22nd Flying Broom International Women’s Film Festival awarded Pelin Esmer with the “Bilge Olgaç Achievement Award” at the opening ceremony for the festival.
The festival will be held in Ankara between May 23 and 30 and will showcase a number of women directors and their films that focus on different aspects of cinema and life from a woman’s viewpoint. 

3 awards from Meetings on the Bridge!

The 14th edition of Meetings on the Bridge was held within the scope of the 38th Istanbul Film Festival. In Work In Progess Section, 30.000 TL Anadolu Efes Award, Daire Creative Key Art Design Award and Paz Digital Communication Awards was presented to the director/producer Pelin Esmer and producer Dilde Mahalli of the film “Queen Lear” . 
This year 8 films from Turkey and neighbouring countries attended Work In progress. The Work in Progress jury members Agatha Valentin (Partner / Totem Films), Giorgo Gosetti (Director / Venice Days), Ineke Kanters (Producer, Managing Director / The Film Kitchen) has decided on the award winning films after watching 5 films at the private screenings held at Soho House Istanbul and the meetings held with the filmmakers.

A Support for “Queen Lear” from New Film Fund

Pelin Esmer’s new feature documentary “Queen Lear” received feature lenght documentary post-production support from the New Film Fund’s 2018 second term support. 
 New Film Fund is a Turkey-based documentary platform to support documentary films that encourage diversity, equality and freedom in their broadest expression.

“Queen Lear” travels to San Sebastian

“Queen Lear”, the new documentary film project by Pelin Esmer has been selected for “Glocal in Progress” organised for the 2nd time this year as a part of 66th San Sebastian Film Festival.
“Kraliçe lear / Queen Lear” which is directed by Pelin Esmer and produced by Pelin Esmer and Dilde Mahalli, refocus in the tale of the women who starred in Oyun and whose lives were changed by the play, as they perform their version of Shakespeare’s work in remote mountain villages.

Pelin Esmer was named the jury president of the 2018 Istanbul Film Festival

The jury of the 37th Istanbul Film Festival’s National Competition is determined. The jury will be presided over by writer-director Pelin Esmer and comprises director of photography Gökhan Tiryaki, actress Selen Uçer, poet-writer Küçük İskender and film critic Barbara Lorey de la Charrière.

Film Critics Association (SİYAD) nominated “Something Useful” in 10 different category for the 50th SİYAD Turkish Cinema Awards.

“Best Script” of Tallinn International Film Festival!

Pelin Esmer and Baris Bicakci has received “Best Script” award in Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. Official Competition Jury forward their comments as: “For the human sensibility and the capacity to turn a train trip to Anatolia into a compelling tale of poetry and grief, mutual comprehension and healing.”

Pelin Esmer: “Best Director” in International Bosphorus Film Festival

Pelin Esmer has been selected as the “Best Director” with her film “Something Useful” in International Bosphorus Film Festival. “Best Actress” award has been given to Öykü Karayel with her performance in “Something Useful”.

Something Useful has received “Best Screenplay” (Pelin Esmer & Barış Bıçakçı), “Best Cinematography” (Gökhan Tiryaki), and “Best Actress” (Başak Koklükaya) awards in 24th Adana Film Festival.
